Microsoft Terminal Server Licensing
The Microsoft approach to licensing differs significantly from the Citrix approach. Instead of charging for concurrent user licenses like Citrix, Microsoft charges per seat. If you are licensing just Terminal Server alone, you just need to add up the number of seats that you will be installing the Terminal Services client on and the number of Windows 2000 Server licenses you will need, and then use these numbers to get a quote. If you are licensing both Terminal Server and MetaFrame, however, you need to purchase the correct licenses for both products. Your connection to Citrix MetaFrame relies on your connection to Terminal Server.
