How Network Load Balancing Works
It is important to understand how NLB works so that you can set up your network properly for load balancing. NLB is an optional service that you can install from the Local Area Connection Properties page for your server's network cards. This service is not available with Windows 2000 Server, only with Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
To set up NLB, you need to install this service on the network cards of every Terminal Server that you want to load balance. NLB is designed to handle up to 32 servers in a single load-balanced cluster.
