And so to our final theme, which is all about the differences between men and women when it comes to understanding and processing information.
This theme comes from a fascinating study conducted by the Cambridge scientist Simon Baron-Cohen (and published in a great book called The Essential Difference). Baron-Cohen has concluded that there is – as his title suggests – an essential difference in how the male and female brains work. He describes the difference in this way:
The female brain is predominantly hard wired for empathy. The male brain is predominantly hard wired for understanding and building systems.29
