Standard object-oriented programming (OOP) methods focus on objects, hence the name. At the proxy class level, Exchange Web Services programming has ItemType objects, MessageType objects, and the like. Although it is certainly true that you are dealing with objects, some interesting things are going on behind the scenes of which you should be aware.
An Item by Any Other Name
The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Store manages one or more databases. A single database has an item table that contains all items within the mailboxes managed by that database. Consider Table 3-1.[28]
