If you have ever done any work with the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and the Active Directory, you may have run into ambiguous name resolution (ANR). Essentially, ANR is a partial name search against entities in the Active Directory, and the ResolveNames Web method is your access to ANR through Exchange Web Services. In addition to searching the Active Directory, ResolveNames also searches the default contacts folder in your Mailbox. Note that there is no way to search any non-default contacts folders. Contacts, distribution lists, and mail-enabled public folders are considered during resolution.
