There are two types of S2S authentication requests. Exchange Impersonation is the publicly supported S2S authentication mechanism and is geared toward third-party applications that need to perform work on behalf of other accounts. Token Serialization is intended for use only in Exchange Server to Exchange Server communication and is not publicly supported by Microsoft.
