Vectorizing the Mountains
As stated earlier, half this restoration process is to make a vector copy of the poster so that it can be scaled up or down without any information loss. And to begin to do this, we need the Pen tool. Take a look at the black of the mountains in the poster. You'll trace this color area and save it as a path.

1. | Zoom into 100% viewing resolution on the poster. Hold down the spacebar (to toggle to the Hand tool), and scroll until you can see the top left of the poster. |
2. | Choose the Pen tool from the toolbox. On the Options bar, make sure the Paths icon and the Add to path area icon are chosen. Click a point at the far left where the black part of the poster begins. |
