The Basic Path Tools

Before you do anything, click on the Pen tool on the toolbox. As you can see in Figure 6.5, the Options bar displays three different icons that will have an impact on the design you create. Do not click on the left icon; this icon will create a new (Shapes) layer, and many of the rules you will learn about hand-drawn paths will not apply (clipping paths are covered in Chapter 4, however).
