Turning the Cover Girl into a Magazine Cover

Creating magazine cover artwork is a discipline in and of itself, and beyond the scope of this chapter. However, you will indeed finish the cover girl design using text. The purpose of this section is to run you through some steps to finish the cover, but also to serve as a mini-sampler on good layout and text use. For more extensive information on Photoshop text handling, check out Chapter 20, “Typography and Page Layout in Photoshop.”

Creating a Magazine Aspect Ratio and Size

First things first: The cover girl image is not the proper aspect ratio for a magazine cover. This problem could be fixed in two ways:
