Creating a Selection Around the Guitar

The first thing you need to do is to isolate the Les Paul guitar from its background. For this task, I recommend using the Pen tools because it provides a crisp, clean separation of the guitar from its background. If you didn't read Chapter 6, “Using the Pen Tools,” right now would be a good time to do so. Alternatively, the path has already been created (see Figure 18.2), so you can get down to work in only a few steps if you feel you don't need the practice.
