Aaron Draplin grew up in Detroit and developed
an early interest in drawing, skateboarding, and
snowboarding. At the end of his teens, he moved
to Bend, Oregon, where he and his snowboard
buddies would “make ’zines and grip-tape graphics
and stickers.” His first professional assignment was
in fall 1993 for Solid Snowboards, designing the
graphics for a pro-model board.
Draplin had an epiphany. He recalls, “The pro
