Antioxidants could add years to your life by fighting free radical damage – if you’re getting enough.
You have an army of good guys – antioxidants – which roam the body, eliminating the free radicals they find. You can boost their ranks simply by eating the right foods.
It’s always important to know your enemy and in the war against ageing, it’s free radicals, the unstable molecules that are a by-product of breathing and which damage the body’s cells. There’s nothing you can do to stop free radicals forming (except stop breathing, which would be a bit, well, radical), but antioxidants can eliminate them.
