Wet scrubbing and gas filtration of syngas in IGCC systems
Herbert M. Kosstrin, Leidos Engineering, L.L.C
Abstract
IGCCs, which convert solid fuels to power, integrate three process components: gasification, syngas cleanup, and the combustion of the clean syngas in the combustion turbine. Cleaning of the syngas is a multistage process which manages environmental emissions while producing a syngas that is acceptable for use in the combustion turbines. Discussed in this chapter are particulate removal and wet scrubbing which are the initial unit operations in the syngas cleaning process.
