Abstract

With increasing availability of wireless networks and home automation systems, the need for energy management in residential and commercial building is also increasing. The primary purpose of EMS is to reduce/manage energy usage optimally, thereby reducing electricity bills while increasing productivity. EMS aims to improve the stewardship of the environment, without compromising on standards of living. The described methodology plans on implementing a real-time monitoring system which analyses the changing graphs of energy usage in the buildings and focuses on minimizing energy wastage in order to implement an energy management system that is efficient in terms of battery energy storage. Considering the well-being of the environment, the system mainly functions on renewable power sources which are cost efficient, reliable in nature and are able to provide an uninterrupted power supply. The proposed plan shall be extended by using the Internet of Things (IoT) to monitor a device’s energy consumption as well as its management by frequent interpretation of real-time datasets. An EMS is responsible for optimally scheduling end-user ...
