Abstract
The enhancement in the technologies and the need to include social sustainability is driving the economies to develop smart cities. The research and development departments have introduced various technologies like centralized databases, cloud storage to make way for the conversion of a city into a smart city. “Blockchain Technology” also known as “Digital Ledger” is the building block for these smart cities. The demand for Blockchain technology is increasing at a very rapid rate and in all sectors and markets. The present study aims in understanding these challenges which hinder the adoption of Blockchain technology in smart cities and provide valuable solutions in solving the problem. The study carries out fuzzy step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) and fuzzy weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS) by determining the weights of each challenge and its importance and providing a rank to different solutions, which will help in providing solution to the challenges. The study is validated by taking Indian cities into consideration.
