Android operating system is the most widely used mobile operating system dominating the global market share. In this chapter, we provide an introduction to Android operating system and its architecture. We also discuss about why Android operating system is widely adopted for developing smart and scalable Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure. Towards the end of the chapter, we also provide a brief discussion about the security of IoT and also about the various malware attacks in IoT till date.
