7. Discussion
In this chapter, we have discussed the ways in which mobility in large-scale,
coordinated transportation systems is managed and reproduced at the local,
interactional level of the operators involved. We have specifically focused on
the coordination and management of air traffic, addressing the ways in which
coordination tasks are founded on moments of interaction and collaboration
of the controllers working together in two distinctive centres of coordination
(Suchman 1993), the tower control and the area control. The controllers res-
