WORLD BANK GROUP
The World Bank Group (WBG) came into formal
existence on 27 December 1945 following interna-
tional ratification of the Bretton Woods agreements.
It is a family of five international organizations res-
ponsible for providing finance and advice to coun-
tries for the purposes of economic development and
eliminating poverty. It functions through five major agencies:
1. International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)
2. International Development Association (IDA)
3. International Finance Corporation (IFC)
4. Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)
