Chapter 24. The IMS
In this chapter, we will introduce the 3GPP IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). The topic would deserve several books on its own, so in this chapter we will focus on just the key ideas. The main purpose of this chapter is to let the reader understand how the ideas around Internet multimedia that we learned throughout the book are applied in a concrete multimedia network intended for the telecom operators’ environment.
