Calling Subsequent Interviews

When inviting candidates for a second interview, there is little point in taking them through the same procedures and questions as on their first visit. Before you can design a different interview for them, however, decide what you want to get out of it.

TIP

Offer to pay candidates’ travel expenses for their second interviews.

Assessing your purpose

You may wish to recall candidates to a second interview for the following reasons:

  • To introduce them to other members of the organization;

  • To ask them more questions, and become better acquainted with them;

  • To compare them once again with other shortlisted candidates to determine a “winner”;

  • To put them through a different set of tests.
