Most of the disadvantages associated with using Intranet / extranet technologies generally apply, if the means of remote access is Internet-based. Most of these disadvantages are then related to the inherent security risks associated with the Internet, although an additional issue is that Internet-based connections are also prone to frequent occurrences of slow or reduced bandwidth.
