This chapter will guide you in building a sense of progress in your team. The sense of progress comes from the final step in self-management—ensuring that the team is actually accomplishing its purpose.

As a leader, you can contribute to your team members’ experience of progress in a number of ways.You can help build a climate that supports progress, make sure that team members get a rich supply of evidence to measure progress, and take time to recognize and celebrate their progress.

There are thus five building blocks of progress:
