Lighting with natural light provides the ideal opportunity to learn how light behaves in different environments and how various and beautiful it can be. Using natural light is an essential cinematographic skill but, if approached thoughtfully, also provides a superb foundation for lighting with lamps. When lighting with film lamps you are almost always trying to emulate natural light.
