The Cloud and Cloud Computing
Introduction
The world is awash with data that are overwhelming our ability to store and analyze them. The enormous cost of constructing, operating, maintaining, and expanding data centers has led to the implementation of cheaper, more flexible centers that can provide on-demand services to meet user requirements. Furthermore, the increased access to data through enormous growth in social media and ever-present use of portable devices has further pressured data center providers to implement a new model of processing, storing, networking, and even using desktop applications on less expensive, commodity personal computing servers. This new model of operation is termed cloud computing.
