We don’t do it like that

The problem of standards had to be tackled but few people would think of regulations, standards or codes as being interesting. There are, of course, some people that greet each new regulation with yelps of delight but they are not ordinary folk.

Having overcome the temptation to ignore standards and such things altogether or to put them all at the end of the book hidden away as an appendix, it seemed better to write the rest of the book and leave this chapter until last and see where it would be most useful. In the end, six seemed to be a good number.

What are codes and standards?

They are recommendations and sometimes legal requirements and sometimes recommended ways of designing communication systems or methods ...
