CHAPTER 7 SUMMARY
This chapter reviewed the performance behavior, operational requirements, and design fea-
tures of the energy storage system. The chapter examined basic battery terminology used in
the design and application of batteries in PV systems.
This chapter discussed the need for electrical storage batteries in PV systems because the
energy generated by a PV array does not always coincide with the energy required. This
chapter also reviewed energy storage systems, lead-acid battery functions, types of batteries,
sealed batteries, charge controllers, generators, and batteries in standalone PV systems.
