Oftentimes, manufacturers design these systems to
power a small number of DC circuits. These pro-
vide power for DC lights, pumps, and refrigerators.
Water-pumping systems in an RV do not require
an inverter.
All other PV systems require an inverter if you
wish to have AC power. The first step is to decide
on the type of inverter needed. Then you can
decide which type of inverter to use. A connected
system requires an inverter that is utility
compatible.
Off-grid systems need inverters that operate
with batteries. Grid-connected systems need a grid-
and battery-compatible inverter.
