Video Editing Techniques

Editing for Multicamera and Single-Camera Productions

Editing is the process of selecting and arranging shots or sequences of shots into an appropriate order. Editing can be accomplished during the multicamera television production process, or it can be carried out in postproduction, after the program material has been captured.

In multicamera television production this process of shot selection takes place as the program is being produced. The signals from several television cameras and other video sources are simultaneously fed into the video switcher, and the pictures from each video source are displayed on the monitors in the control room.
