Power supplies
In this chapter we concern ourselves with systems powered by both the control panel and remotely located supply units.
Technicians are required to install and maintain both system types, so there is a need to understand the regulations and principles of operation of this equipment.
The power supply of an intruder alarm system is mains electricity with a battery standby supply. In practice they may be combined with a control unit or separately housed for remote location. They may be British Telecom (BT) approved if the system involves remote signalling.
