OPEC Organization
OPEC has established what is known as quotas whereby each member country abides by production guidelines. Technically, these are not published production guidelines, but rather an assessment of each country's general allocation of total crude production. The group does publically announce whether it will increase or decrease production and its intended production target. This is known as the Call on OPEC. OPEC will also provide its view of crude prices and its intentions, generally through its secretary general and its membership. In recent years, OPEC has become media savvy and various members have held news conferences and given brief interviews.
