Property Sectors
REIT investors are now able to invest in businesses that own and operate many different property types. There are apartment communities, shopping centers, office buildings, industrial parks, factory outlet centers, health care facilities, and many others. REIT organizations participate in each of these property types, and each type has specific advantages, risks, idiosyncrasies, and cycles that set them apart from the others. The difficulty for the investor is deciding how much weight to give to each factor when trying to evaluate them.
