Consequently, we can see that the manufacturers of IoT products have several difficulties and do have some mitigating circumstances for not producing robustly secure products at low price points. However, it is their brand name on the box, so it is in their interest ultimately to ensure life-cycle software support is built into the design–a way to upgrade over the air–in order to support the product so that it provides lifetime security.
