Chapter 17–IoT Security Framework
In this chapter, we will discuss designing the protocols and communications into a design and how this can differ dependent on the devices and their function in the network. We will examine the existing protocols such as TCP/IP and Ethernet which are ubiquitous throughout the IT domain in communications, enterprise and commerce. We will examine why and how we should deploy them where possible within the consumer ecosystem and some alternatives when that avenue is not feasible.
The reader will learn in this chapter:
- Common network protocols used in IT though not so much in IoT
- When and why to use IPv6
- The basic communication protocols for WSN (ZigBee, Bluetooth, etc.)
- Understand messaging protocols
- TCP ...
