IGRP's Mechanisms

In addition to its large, composite routing metric, IGRP also relies on a series of mechanisms to function properly and maintain a stable internetworking environment. These mechanisms fall into two broad categories: timing mechanisms and convergence mechanisms. In operation, the distinction between these two blurs, because there is considerable interdependence between them. This will become more obvious as you more closely examine these mechanisms in this section.
