When you want your iPad to do your bidding, you usually put the magic of multitouch to work: You tap this, double-tap that, swipe something else, and so on. These and other touchscreen gestures such as pinching and spreading aren't difficult, but doesn't it sometimes feel like you have to perform a seemingly endless litany of gestures to accomplish some tasks? We're all going to end up with calluses on our fingers if we keep this up!

Or you can try a smarter approach and take advantage of some iPad features that drastically reduce or even eliminate the number of gestures you perform to make some tasks happen.

The first of these features is Control Center, which you can open with a quick swipe. Control Center offers one- or two-tap access to many common iPad settings, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Focus, brightness, and volume.
