Adding music and video
Equipment needed: An iPad with an Internet connection. Your credit card or an iTunes gift card, if you plan to download from the iTunes Store. Payments can also be made using a PayPal account. A computer with a CD drive, if you want to copy CDs.
Skills needed: Experience using apps and gestures. Skills using the web browser (see Chapter 9) are particularly valuable.
One of Apple's shrewdest moves was creating the iTunes Store, which sells audio and video content, and makes certain programmes available for free download. The iTunes Store was launched in 2003 for iPod music players and has made Apple one of the most powerful companies in the entertainment business. What it means for you is that you can find Hollywood blockbusters, TV shows, recent or classic albums and educational content from the comfort of your sofa.
The programmes, films and music you select are copied straight to your iPad from the Internet, through a process called downloading.
