First came the notion of the third place: somewhere other than home or work where a person could go to relax and gather informally with others (think coffee shop, community center, salon). These days we have the idea of the third screen: a video screen that a person uses almost as often as their TV and computer screens. You might nominate your smartphone as your third screen (heck, it might even be most people's first screen), but what if we restrict the screen to watching video? Ah, that's a different story, and I think it's much more likely that your iPad with its relatively big screen and sharp image is your go-to third screen for watching video.
