CHAPTER 8 Inter-Domain IPv6 Network Slicing Technologies

DOI: 10.1201/9781032699868-10

An IPv6 network slice can be used as a 5G Transport Network (TN) slice and combined with a Radio Access Network (RAN) slice and a Core Network (CN) slice to form a 5G end-to-end (E2E) network slice. And as network slice services are being deployed on a larger scale, an IPv6 network slice itself may span multiple IP network domains. As such, IPv6 networks need to support inter-domain slices. This chapter starts by describing the framework, procedure, and implementation of mapping 5G E2E network slices to IPv6 network slices. It then introduces the technologies involved in inter-domain IPv6 network slicing and SRv6-based inter-domain IPv6 network slicing. ...
