In the future, consumer electronics devices will no longer be stand-alone. Instead, they will be highly connected components that interact with each other. This vision of convergence and connectivity has been a long time coming and has now arrived. Today, connectivity is primarily done via PCs and hard-wired connections (such as synchronization of PDAs and music players), but in the future, individual CE devices will be themselves directly connected to the Internet as well to each other. And it is software that is making most of it happen.
