Using IS-IS in ISP Networks
As discussed in the previous chapters, Integrated IS-IS has only two types of network models: point-to-point and broadcast. IS-IS does not support the point-to-multipoint model as in OSPF. You can, however, design and configure IS-IS routers with a workaround to support NBMA transport if necessary.
This section reviews the different connection models: point-to-point and multipoint. It also examines typical problem scenarios with running IS-IS over NBMA networks and looks at how you can overcome these issues. The last part of this section discusses scaling in NBMA environments, examines typical problems, and provides various ways to solve them.
