THE ANGLO-EGYPTIAN SUDAN

The Anglo-Egyptian Sudan does not, of course, properly fall within the purview of this Survey, for it is now in the process of passing from the status of a Condominium into that of an independent State, while it has never been a British Colonial possession. But a brief review of the application of Islamic law in that country can scarcely be omitted from this Survey, if only because of the many points of interest and comparison inevitably involved; while this is also of particular importance in that the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan may be regarded, in this respect, as a pioneer in the path of reform.
