8.1 Operational planning and control

Earlier in this book, we discussed how to identify the context of the organisation and the requirements of interested parties, and determine the actions that arise from them. Clause 8.1 of the Standard requires that you “plan, implement and control” the processes necessary to achieve those actions, and to create and maintain the BCMS. To do this, it expects that you will:

a)Define criteria for these processes;

b)Implement and control the processes in line with the criteria; and

c)Keep documented information to ensure that the processes are carried out.
