ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 – the benefits of integration
In strategic terms, an IMS is an integration of all of an organisation’s processes and system working under – and towards – one set of policies and objectives. In other words, risk and opportunities are no longer managed in silos within the organisation but, instead, with one unified, or integrated, approach from the leadership team. There is less duplication, less waste of resources and a more focused approach to managing issues and opportunities. Sounds too good to be true? It depends on the organisation’s goals and the way it is currently managed, especially at senior and middle management levels.
