The Gap

Let's review what you have developed so far, before proceeding to the last step in the gap identification process. Thus far, you have:

• Identified and documented the current automation level in your data center, and the problems and opportunities it represents.

• Identified and documented the end users' needs, applications development and support needs, and system management and operations needs.

• Developed a list of detailed automation requirements for both the technical and administrative process components of your data center.

Using this information, you will evaluate the new automation requirements versus current automation and describe the gap. Use the automation requirements matrix and expand it as you see in Table 2-4:
