The business case consolidates much of the information gathered to-date on the problem or gap, options, solution and cost-benefit. Contents of an IT-enabled change business case are likely to include some or all of the following elements.
(i) Drivers for change:
organisational background including strategic perspective;
problems and opportunities with the current processes and systems.
(ii) Proposed business solution:
evaluation of options and recommended solution;
components of the solution.
(iii) Implementation approach:
project management approach, governance and timescales;
success criteria and risk management.
(vi) Cost-benefit analysis:
total cost of ownership – business and IT;
