The extent to which maintenance matters can vary significantly within the SME sector: some need nothing at all; others need a full-blown, all-inclusive, outsourced maintenance service.

EXAMPLE 1

The author has absolutely no maintenance support in place (other than any warranty that comes with new equipment). This has never been a problem in nearly 20 years as the author is IT literate and all of the equipment is sufficiently cheap to be treated as essentially disposable.
