4. Engage with Social Networking Sites
Leopold’s Records was a fixture of Berkeley life for decades. Founded in 1968 by students at the University of California as a tribute to the conductor Leopold Stokowski, it wasn’t just a record store—it was a center of the community. It also became, in 1972, the first real example of electronic social networking (and was often used to organize the sort of protests shown in Figure 4.1).
