TCP/IP Networking

A network can be considered a series of points along a line. These points are nodes, and the electronic network provides high-speed communication between the nodes. A network provides this communication using a protocol, a preassigned language for communication, and a predetermined format for a data buffer or information packet.

The data buffer or packet is transmitted between nodes and is a combination of the actual data being transmitted and information about the data packet contained in the packet header.
