This chapter provided an overview of JSP Web tier components and described how JSP implementations are built upon the technology of servlets. JSP pages are converted into servlets and then run in a servlet container. Using existing technology infrastructure in this way has provided a smooth development path for software vendors who already had a servlet container in place.
