Sometimes, your team needs a little outside perspective to attack a problem. And that's when collaboration becomes essential.
Many's the time I've left a piece of music for dead, only to have a collaborator decide that it wasn't so bad after all and give it new life. Or I've hit an absolute dead end, knowing I had something with potential but not sure how to take it to the next level, and a collaborator would step in and say, "Switch these parts around, put this here, that there, and add this little piece right in there," and boom—you've got yourself a complete song, one that's your creation with just a bit of tweaking to make it right.
